Crucible Furnace Core
Starts the Crucible furnace.
The heart of a crucible steel furnace. Build the ash pit, the hearth and the flue up from it, then raise the chimney as tall as you can: on natural draught alone, height is temperature, and crucible steel needs more of it than anything else in the works.
The core is the block at the foot of the flue. Place it first, then ctrl plus shift plus right-click it to raise the build outline of the Crucible furnace and its shopping list; the ash pit, the hearth, the charge door and the damper follow it. Its side variant fixes which way the furnace faces and it wears the refractory tier it was crafted from. It also counts the chimney the player raises by hand, reporting how many courses stand over the flue, what they are pulling and whether the stack is short of its best or past the peak.
