Steel Crucible

  • Steel Crucible (Raw): Unfired fireclay. Bake it in a pit kiln before it will hold a heat.
  • Steel Crucible: A fireclay pot that holds molten steel at 1600 C, which ordinary clay cannot. It gives three heats and then it is finished.
  • Steel Crucible (Full): A pot of molten crucible steel. Pour it into a canal or a mould before it sets.

Each heat takes 110 units of molten steel and gives back 100, the rest lost to the pour, and a pot that has given its third heat is finished: it cannot be charged a fourth time. A full pot is poured rather than tapped: pick it up once it is safe to carry and empty it into a canal, a barrel or a mold.
