Puddled Ball

Wrought iron drawn white-hot off the puddling hearth. Two of them shingle into a bar under the helve; it cools fast, so carry it straight there.

A Puddler's Paddle draws one Puddled Ball per stroke, 200 units, out of a working Puddling furnace bath, sixteen to a full heat of nine pigs. On the anvil it piles rather than replaces: the first ball lays a layer of metal voxels and the second stacks on top, so two balls, not one, make the full Shingled Bar shape the helve then beats down. It only works hot - a ball cooled below half its melting point on the way back to the anvil has to be refired, not hammered cold.
