Puddling Fettle

Crushed iron ore, spread over a puddling hearth. Its oxygen burns the carbon out of the pig, and it shields the bottom plate. Consumed every heat.

Puddling Fettle is crushed from any item the fettlestock tag admits, three fettlings to a batch, and a heat needs one per row: nine pigs, three rows, three fettlings. It is entirely closed-loop once a furnace is running - the Tap Cinder raked out of a spent bed grid-crafts back into exactly three fettlings for the next heat, so a running puddling furnace never needs fresh ore for its bed again.
