Pig Iron
Pig is what a Blast furnace taps and freezes at a Sand Casting Bed: 375 units of brittle, high-carbon iron that cannot be forged. It goes two ways from here: nine pigs, fettled and charged in three rows, decarburise in a Puddling furnace into wrought iron, or pigs, chunks and bits alike get remelted whole in a Cupola into cast iron. Setting one on an anvil does not forge it; it seats as a work item the helve hammer shatters into Pig Iron Chunk and Pig Iron Shot instead, whatever the metal's temperature.
