Cast Iron Ingot

High-carbon iron cast straight from the cupola. Hard and brittle - it cannot be forged, only melted and poured.

Cast Iron Ingot is what a Cupola's tap freezes when it is cast into a mold rather than left to run down a canal into a pig or a Slag Brick; melting it back down only ever recasts it into another ingot, one for one. Twenty Cast Iron Bits smelt back into one ingot the other way round; the bits come from breaking a mold under a cooling pour, not from melting a finished ingot. Only one recipe in the mod reads this ingot, the Spur Gear's chisel cut - Heavy Cast Plate is poured from molten metal at the cell rather than cast from an ingot. Mistake: setting it on the anvil does nothing useful - it goes back to a furnace or a mold, never a hammer.
