Twin-Tub Blower

Axle-driven twin-tub bellows. Supplies blast air to the pipe line at its outlet.

The Twin-Tub Blower is the mechanical alternative to a steam Air Blower: an axle turning its frame drives the two tubs the stages raise, and it pushes whatever that turning is worth straight into the pipe fitted at the front. It never needs a boiler, but it also never clears the pressure the Bessemer process wants; a waterwheel or a windmill through it makes iron, not steel. See Ironmaking for the speed-to-flow curve and the 2.0 atm seal it cannot pass.

Feed it power at the axle cell above the frame and run a pipe up to the outlet cell in front of it, facing back at the blower. A pipe merely resting nearby, with no connector facing the outlet, carries nothing away, which is why a built and turning blower can still leave the furnace reading zero blast.
