Bessemer Converter Vessel

Massive vessel that blows molten iron into steel.

This is the vessel of the Bessemer process, raised in place rather than crafted: right-click the Bessemer Control with one large gear and eight iron or steel rods in your hotbar once the rest of the structure stands, then build it up through its own stages. The stages lay the gear shaft that couples it to the transmission below, then the lower iron shell, the gas intake fitting and its pipe stubs, the lining in two courses, the upper shell, and last the fire clay that closes the input lining; nothing is usable until that last stage.

Once it stands, the vessel takes molten iron through its input tap and cold scrap by hand: hold iron or steel bits and right-click the upper hatch, which is a different click from anything on the control block. A charge that freezes solidifies in the same hatch, and a small residue chips out with a chisel and hammer; anything larger means breaking the vessel, which returns its construction materials along with the metal.
