Crushed Blister Steel
Blister steel crushed cold under a helve hammer. Charge for a crucible pot - hot blister steel forges into shear steel instead.
Crushing a cold blister-steel ingot on the anvil yields 3 Crushed Blister Steel chunks (25 units each) and 5 bits, a hundred units recovered whole. That charge, 110 units of it, is what one pot of Crucible furnace work asks for; heat the same ingot first and it forges into shear steel instead of crushing, so temperature alone decides which route it takes. See Iron and its grades.
