Mechanical Power Generator
Engine-driven crank that turns axles, supplying mechanical power to machines.
This is the sub-machine, not the engine: it seats in an engine's drive cell and turns the axle network out of its own gear housing, coupling on both faces along its own axis rather than one, so it also passes power straight through a line running past it. Its budget is twice the engine's current power, and the shaft settles wherever that budget divided by the load on the line lands: at the budget it turns at rated speed, at twice the budget it labours at half speed, and at four times the budget it stalls outright with no damage done.
Speed has a second ceiling on top of that: the shaft never turns faster than the engine driving it turns, so a second engine on the same line buys load capacity and never buys speed.
